Basement Ideas - Great Guest Room

by Jessica P

Do you frequently have friends and family over with no place for them to stay? Use this basement idea and create the perfect guest room for your friends and family.

We all know how awkward it can feel to visit someone and not have a place to sleep. You end up displacing someone out of their bedroom or you end up on the sofa. Spare your own guests from that awkwardness by providing them with their own guest room.

In order to implement this great basement remodeling idea, you need to clear out your basement. Here is what you will need to get this basement project underway. - Paint for the walls - A heavy duty rug or perhaps even carpet - Some bedding for your guest bed - A comfy sofa or a couple chairs to give your guests a sitting area - If you feel like providing refreshments you can put a small dorm-sized refrigerator in there as well. - A side table with a clock - A receipt book to provide your guests with their bill... just kidding!

Once you have your paint color picked out, go ahead and paint your walls. Try to coordinate the colors with the bedding, the walls, and the sofa or chairs. As an example, choose what color you like best in your bed cover and match it to your walls.

Put your flooring in. Either your rug or maybe carpet. Now you are ready to move the furniture in. Situate it to flow nicely in the room, you don't want the space to feel cramped.

There are a few things you can do for this basement remodeling idea to make your guests feel even more at home. A small pot for coffee and some coffee packets are a nice addition. Leave a few mugs and some condiments down there.

Putting a small television in the room will give your guests the ability to watch some television late a night without get in the way of everyone else.

Your guests will feel more welcome because they wont be sleeping on the couch or kicking someone out of their room. This is one of the best basement ideas, especially if you have a lot of people visiting during the holiday season. Have fun and enjoy your guests.
